San Luis Obispo County added 145 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the county’s total number to 17,511 confirmed cases since Jan. 28.
Health officials say 49 people are currently hospitalized. Another 1,859 people are recovering at home, and health officials say 15,408 people have recovered.
San Luis Obispo County reports that 20 of the 38 authorized ICU beds and staff in the county are currently occupied. Forty of these are taken by patients with COVID-19.
The county also added three new COVID-19-related deaths on Thursday. To date, there have been 164 total deaths attributed to the virus in SLO County.

The location of an additional 61 cases is under investigation, and nine more are listed as “other”, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.
COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
