SLO County reports 127 new COVID-19 cases, 4 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County reports the deaths of four more people who had COVID-19.

Public health officials say patients ranged in age from 70 to 100.

San Luis Obispo County had 140 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

The county also added 127 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the county’s total number to 16,056 confirmed cases starting Jan. 20.

It is the lowest number of daily cases since the beginning of the year. At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, SLO County Public Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein said that while the county has begun to see fewer new cases, they are still very large. compared to spring and summer.

She added that almost a quarter of all cases in the county have happened in the last 14 days.

Health officials say 55 people are hospitalized. Another 2,398 people are recovering at home and health officials say 13,429 people have recovered.

San Luis Obispo County reports that 18 of the 38 authorized and staffed ICU beds in the county are currently occupied. Seven of them are taken by patients with COVID-19.

The location of an additional 84 cases is under investigation, and another nine are listed as “other”, which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

COVID-19 community testing sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.
