Simpsons writer Marc Wilmore has died at the age of 57 from COVID-19

The 10-time Primetime Emmy-nominated writer and producer of “The Simpsons”, Marc Wilmore, has died at the age of 57 after complications from coronavirus.

“My sweet and sweet brother, Marc Edward Wilmore, died last night while battling COVID and other conditions that plagued him for many years,” Wilmore’s older brother and comedy colleague Larry Wilmore posted on Twitter Sunday. “My brother was the best, gentlest, funniest, lion of an angel I have ever met. I love you little brother. ”

After graduating from Cal Poly Pomona, Wilmore began his career in the 1990s writing – and then as a cast member – for the sketch comedy show “In Living Color.” His writing there earned him his first Emmy nomination. After “In Living Color”, he became a writer for “The Tonight Show Starring Jay Leno”, as well as for his brother Larry’s stop-motion sitcom “The PJs”.

Wilmore continued to be co-executive producer and writer for “The Simpsons,” as well as for the animated series “F Is For Family.” His voice also appeared in the occasional character of the shows he worked on, according to IMDB.

“I’m so sorry for your loss, Larry,” posted on Twitter comedian Matt Oswalt. “I met Marc when I was working on the Tonight Show – I played golf, I laughed a lot. He was such a nice guy and he would miss him. ”

“My heart goes out, Larry,” he replied actor David Alan Grier. “I fondly remember that I set up your offices in ILC, presenting ideas back and forth. [Marc] he was the funniest and sweetest guy in the world! Rest in peace “.

“Another huge talent taken too soon”, wrote “Simpsons” writer Michael Price. “I had the privilege of working with Marc Wilmore on 3 shows (PJ, Simpsons, FIFF) for most of the last 23 years and he was the funniest man in every room. And a wonderful man. He is irreplaceable. Rest in peace, my friend. ”
