The “lambs” were led to slaughter.
In Armie Hammer’s biggest cannibal drama, CBS’s “Silence Of the Lambs” spin “Clarice” was eviscerated by the criminal drama, which instead calls for the return of NBC’s canceled “Hannibal” series.
The hashtag “#HannibalDeservesMore” started to have trends on social networks on Friday morning.
“Clarice,” which was heavily promoted during the 2021 Super Bowl, follows the untold story of FBI Hotshot agent Clarice Starling (played by Rebecca Breeds) as she returns to work after capturing serial cannibal killer Hannibal Lecter.
The series takes place a year after the 1991 film “Silence of the Lambs” – based on the novel of the same name by Thomas Harris – in which Jodie Foster played Clarice and Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.
The CBS drama marks the first spinoff of NBC’s “Silence” from NBC’s “Hannibal,” which explored the early relationship between Lecter (played by Mads Mikkelsen) and talented criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). Despite being praised for its landscape chewing shows and porn performances with delicious food, the killer series was focused in 2015 after three seasons, a decision that angered its angry fans, who launched a petition to save beloved series.
Now, “Hannibal” has renewed its calls for the rebirth of the show after they established that “Clarice” has no teeth.
“They were right, there’s nothing like ‘Hannibal,’ Sent a “Clarice” critic noting that the CBS show got a weak 36% on Rotten Tomatoes, compared to its predecessor, 92%.
Another wondered, “Indeed, what prevents networks from choosing #Hannibal ?? HAVE YOU SEEN THE APPLICATION ??? ”
“It’s #HannibalDeservesMore day !!! Share your love already and #SaveHannibal @netflix !!!! He sent a fanibal.
“Hannibal” creator Bryan Fuller was moved by the show of support, Tweeting: “#HANNIBALDESERVESMORE THANK YOU, #FannibalFamily”
No word on whether “Hannibal” will see a second coming.
