Should Steelers trade for JJ Watt’s Texans?

There’s almost no chance the Pittsburgh Steelers could trade for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson. The cost will be much too high. However, that doesn’t mean the Steelers can’t yet work out a deal with Houston to bring Steeler Nation great delight.

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, part of the Texans’ fire sale could include perennial All-Pro defensive JJ Watt. With brothers TJ and Derek already on the Steelers list, it would be an impressive synergy if Pittsburgh could argue with JJ as well.

But do the Steelers need him? The easy answer is, of course. Despite being only a year younger than Cam Heyward, Watt still plays great football and would be a great addition to the Steelers’ defensive line rotation with Heyward and Stephon Tuitt.

Unfortunately, trading for Watt this season is a luxury that Pittsburgh cannot afford. Between Watt’s salary cap and the value of this year’s project, it’s hard to imagine Steelers expanding to any player.
