GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Police are investigating a murder-suicide in Garden City in their opinion, in which a 77-year-old grandmother was killed.
It happened Wednesday in a house on Rosslyn Avenue, just north of the Cherry Hill and Venoy roads intersection.
Police said they found the body of Maria Ortega, a 10-year-old grandmother and also a great-grandmother, in the house.
“She was the most generous person we know and she was always there when we needed her,” said Sandy Quintana. She would never yell at you, she was just always happy to be with you. Family would make her day because her life is family. “
Authorities say Ortega’s 81-year-old husband was rushed to hospital with stab wounds and a man in his 20s was also found dead in the house.
“Our grandfather was rushed to hospital, we don’t know his condition, we just hope he is still with us,” said Quintana. “It’s so difficult now because it was so unexpected.”
Garden City police have released few details of the investigation.
“My grandmother was the most supportive and generous person I know. She was always so kind and loving, ”said Quintana. She had her heart on her sleeve, she would do anything to see you smile, just to see you happy. She didn’t deserve this. “
