Milan legend Paolo Maldini has rejected suggestions Zlatan Ibrahimovic is bigger than the club.
Ibrahimovic has been a revelation since returning to Milan for a second spell at the end of December 2019, at the age of 39, always green, at the head of the club’s Scudetto accusation within this period.
Former Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain striker – without a contract at the end of this season – scored 14 Serie A goals in 2020-21 to help Milan reach second place, six points away from rivals Inter.
A huge resource
Maldini is now technical director in Milan and considers Ibrahimovic a “huge resource”, but considers that the club is well positioned to resist the Swede’s departure if he does not extend his contract at the San Siro.
