Serena Williams makes her Australian Open debut in 2021

While Tom Brady was claiming his greatest athlete of all time on Sunday night, about 9,600 miles away, Serena Williams said, “Not so fast, buddy.”

With all due respect to Brady and his Tampa Bay Buccaneers Super Bowl teammates, he was not the only GOAT in action. Serena won the night with the field show at the Australian Open, the statement outfit and world domination around the world.

Before playing even a single point in the first round of 6-1, 6-1 on Laura Siegemund, the 39-year-old had already appeared at that time other sporting event in a memorable Super Bowl commercial.

Soon after, the 23-time major champion persuaded everyone to speak again as she took to the yard dressed in a colorful, asymmetrical, one-legged suit. Later, she said that the look was inspired by the late star of the song Florence Griffith Joyner.

“I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a wonderful athlete on the track, an amazing athlete when I was big,” she said later. “Looking at her fashion, always changing, her outfits have always been amazing. This year we thought about what we can do to continue to raise Serena Williams on the field. The Nike team actually thought of this Inspirational design from Flo-Jo. It was like, “Oh my God, that’s so brilliant.”

Although the cat costume doesn’t seem to be available for purchase at the moment, Nike has introduced a series of t-shirts that celebrate Serena’s legendary achievements and iconic status. Her husband, Alexis Ohanian, was even seen carrying one in the box during the match.

If you think “QUEEN!” for you right now, as you relive their incredible night, they seem to agree.
