Prime Minister Justin Trudeau urges Canadians to take Covid-19 “very seriously because the numbers continue to go in the wrong direction.”

He added: “Our fight against this virus is not over, even if we are preparing to say goodbye and release ourselves by 2020.”

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, Trudeau said: “Canadians are good enough to go through long, harsh winters, and this will be longer and tougher than we are used to.”

Canada’s front-line workers began receiving vaccinations earlier this week.

“Getting a vaccine in a week or a month will not do you any good if you take Covid-19 today,” he added.

Speaking French, Trudeau urged Canadians across the country to stay indoors, wear masks and continue their social distance during the holiday season.

“Christmas will not be the same this year, but it will still be an opportunity for us to be with someone close, physically or virtually,” Trudeau said.

“Just like this spring, summer and autumn, we will continue to be there for you. We will have your back, every step of the way “, Trudeau promised. “We will make the government whatever it needs, as long as it is needed to keep you safe and supported. We are entering the last kilometers of this crisis and we cannot give up now “.
