If there was ever a business that made me look for a legitimate reason NOT to spend $ 500, it would be that. In the last few weeks, Samsung’s original Galaxy Chromebook has been discounted to Best Buy or Samsung, worth a $ 200 discount. Now, I’m not so in love with the Galaxy Chromebook that I’d lose $ 800 to get one when the Tiger Lake Chromebooks, like the ASUS Chromebook Flip 536, are just around the corner. That being said, I’m sure there are a lot of Chromies who would love to get their hands on the Galaxy and I tell you, $ 799 is a solid price. Now, if you took out $ 500 from Samsung’s Core i5 premium convertible, you’re getting attention and that’s exactly what I discovered today when I searched for deals.
I recently sent to get my “official” veteran ID card, and once I received it in the mail, I set up with Id.me and other verification websites so I can take advantage of some discounts here and there. So, I arrived at Samsung.com this afternoon to see if there are any updated offers for the new Chromebooks, and I saw that Samsung hand-reduced the Galaxy price to $ 799. It’s worth writing about, but I decided to check and see how much I could get rid of if I used the military discount with the Samsung Discount Program. Here, by logging into my verified Samsung account, he pulled another $ 320 out of the price, bringing the total pre-tax amount to a ridiculously low $ 479.40. This makes this Chromebook the cheapest flagship Core i5 of the 10th generation and comes with a parked pen, fingerprint sensor and that crisp 4K AMOLED screen. Seriously, this is a crazy price.

The biggest problem with the original Galaxy Chromebook was the low battery life, but at this price, it’s pretty forgivable and I keep my device docked 90% of the time anyway. This makes this a very difficult decision for me, because I don’t need another Chromebook anymore and I know I will buy a Tiger Lake Chromebook when they come out. However, this offer is a bit too good to be dropped. I got this discount because I’m a veteran, but I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that any verified education customer, first responder, or other eligible buyer of the Samsung Discount Program can get similar savings. Not only can you take the $ 1,000 Galaxy for under $ 500, but you could put another $ 40 + dollar back on the Big Fat Check.
