Secretary of State meets with the Secretary General of the OAS

Secretary of State Roberto Álvarez held a meeting on Tuesday with Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS) Luis Almagro, where they discussed several issues.

Among the topics raised during the virtual meeting was the celebration of the Summit of the Americas, which is scheduled for 2021, according to information published on the Twitter account of the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Republic (Mirex).

“Secretary of State Roberto Álvarez held a virtual meeting with Mr. Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS on Tuesday, during which they discussed the agenda for the Summit of the Americas to be held in the United States this year,” said one of the messages.

In the virtual meeting, Álvarez was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Multilanguage Foreign Policy, Rubén Silié; the permanent representative of our country at the OAS, Josué Fiallo, and the deputy representative at the OAS, Anabel Bueno.

Almagro for his part was in the company of his Chief of Staff, Gonzalo Konke.

According to the OAS website, the Summit of the Americas is a periodic meeting between the heads of state of the area where they discuss common concerns about social, economic and political issues.

“This process is vital to setting and achieving goals in the hemisphere, and in this way the OAS receives most of its mandates. The organization acts as the technical secretariat of the top process, ”says the OAS.
