Seahawks part with DT Jarran Reed

The Seahawks are expected to break away from the defensive approach Follow Reed, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.com (via Twitter). Apparently Reed himself broke the news in a deleted tweet since then.

According to Schefter, Seattle is looking for a business partner, but will release the 28-year-old if he cannot close a deal. NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport hears the same thing, and RapSheet adds that Reed is looking for a long-term deal, while the Seahawks were hoping to convert some of their 2020 salary into a signing bonus to reduce their cap of 13.5 MM USD number (Twitter link). Although these types of restructurings are common and generally not difficult to perform, as they guarantee the player money that was not previously guaranteed, Rapoport says the situation has entered a “bad spot” when Seattle disagrees with an extension.

If you move on from Reed, you will create $ 8.5 million cover space, although he will line up the club with a $ 5 million limited cover hit. However, Seattle clearly appreciates the savings at the end more than in the second round of 2016 at the moment.

Reed had an outburst campaign in 2018, gathering 50 approaches and 10.5 bags. But he was suspended for the first six games of the 2019 season after violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy and managing only 2.5 sacks that year. The total number of bags increased to 6.5 last season and he played a full list of 16 games, but Pro Football Focus was not too big in his work. PFF ranked him as the 89th best inside defender in 125 qualifications and did not receive high marks either for his defense in the race or for his ability to accelerate.

The Seahawks have signed Kerry Hyder a few days ago and brought back Benson Mayowa, but Reed’s departure will still leave an unexpected passage (despite his low PFF score). Commercial acquisition in 2020 Carlos Dunlap it’s still on the market after it was launched by Seattle a few weeks ago, so it’s likely “Hawks will be back. He could also request the first round in 2019 LJ necklace to manage multiple photos on DT with Reed out of the picture.
