Scott Servais contradicts Trevor Bauer

Sailors manager Scott Servais responded to Trevor Bauer’s assessment of his exit against Seattle, which included three homers in the fifth inning that ended the prevailing Cy League National League winning streak.

After Evan White, José Marmolejos and Mitch Haniger eliminated him in his final half, Bauer told reporters about his exit: “I got what I wanted. In the fifth half, there really was no thought of sequencing or anything. We only throw pitches. This is not a very good frame of mind to try to get the boys out of. But I was just finishing my night, trying to count myself. ”

On Tuesday, when Servais described the sailors’ offensive improvements over the past week or so, he mimicked Bauer’s response when he spoke about his own team.

“Bauer was definitely early in his game,” Servais said. “I just wanted everyone to know that our boys weren’t trying the first four innings. We decided to try in the fifth half last night and it worked. Our boys started trying.

“I know he said he might not try in the fifth, but our boys were trying in the fifth. I just didn’t take it seriously in the first three or four innings. ”

“No, our boys hit with their eyes closed in the first four innings. We also tried to breathe through our eyelids because we focus on different things that will help us over the years. I just want to do it [sure] everyone understood that he was not trying the first four innings. ”

Seattle has been Bauer’s toughest opponent this spring, at least in score. In 7 2/3 innings against the Mariners, Bauer gave up nine shots, six runs won and four walks.

Bauer is likely to face the sailors next month. The Dodgers visit T-Mobile Park for a two-game series on April 19-20.
