The club filed a lawsuit in California court this week, claiming that Disney violated the terms of a five-year agreement signed in 2017 who have established profitable rights to stream their games from home, among other promotional services.

The team, based in the northern city of Torreón, claims that the alleged violations could leave it without a viable partner to televise its games.

Santos Laguna claims that the initial agreement they signed with what was then known as FSLA Holdings, a former Fox unit, was worth about $ 106 million, which covered the rights to broadcast matches in Mexico and abroad starting with the 2019/2020 season.

But after Fox’s $ 71 billion acquisition, Disney agreed to give up the FSLA, now known as TFCF Holdings.

We believe that the statements are totally unfounded and we will defend ourselves vigorously against them “, said a Disney spokesperson.
