San Francisco 49ers, Trent Williams agrees to deal, making him the highest paid OL in NFL history

Trent Williams and San Francisco have reached an agreement, sources told ESPN.

Williams’ deal with the 49ers is 6 years, $ 138 million, making him the highest paid linebacker in NFL history. Of the $ 55.1 million guaranteed contract, $ 30.1 million is in the form of a signing bonus.

The 49ers traded to Williams on the third day of the 2020 NFL Draft, sending a fifth-round pick and a third-round pick in 2021 to the Washington football team.

Upon joining the Niners, they agreed to add a clause to his contract, meaning they can’t label him this season. Williams, 32 (July 19), continued to stabilize his left attacking position in place of retired Joe Staley, starting 14 games and returning to his former Pro Bowl form.

All this came in Williams’ first season, after participating in all of 2019, when he got involved in a dispute with Washington over the management of his injury problems and his contract.

At the end of the season, Williams said he hoped to sign again with San Francisco, but also admitted that he wanted to see what premiere approach he could get on the open market, as players in his position on that horse rarely get that far . in free agency.

Since he joined the league as the general option no. 4 in the 2010 NFL draft, Williams started 133 games, winning eight Pro Bowl berths and a second All Pro team in 2015.
