In the third week of COVID-19 vaccine allocation, 23,975 doses of Moderna and Pfizer vaccine will be sent to hospitals in Bexar County, according to the state health department.
Bexar County hospitals to receive deliveries include the university health system, Christus Children’s Hospital in San Antonio and Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center, Methodist hospitals and the UT Health San Antonio clinic, Wellness 360. Vaccines will be reserved for priority populations.
Other nearby counties receiving vaccine doses include Dimmit, Gonzales, Kerr, Medina and Wilson.
Health officials say vaccine allocations are likely to increase as supply expands with increased production and FDA approval of more vaccines.
Due to the currently limited supply of the vaccine, the vaccine is currently only given to health care workers, long-term care workers and residents, people over the age of 65 and people who are at least 16 years old with at least one medical condition. .
State health officials believe the vaccine will be offered to the general public starting in the spring of 2021.

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services keeps track of where the vaccine was distributed and the number of people vaccinated so far through its online dashboard. Hundreds of similar facilities across the state are receiving transportation, it is shown.
Vaccine distribution and administration data are aggregated from each county by the state, and the scoreboard is updated daily, although delays are possible depending on when the data are reported.
To date, vaccines have only been distributed to certain hospitals in the state, giving priority to health care workers who are regularly exposed to the virus.
