San Antonio rapper killed by “colleagues” as “humble and quiet”

SAN ANTONIO – A man who was found dead after being shot in his apartment in La Cantera is remembered by those who knew him as a musical artist who stood out from all the others.

Martell Derouen, also known by his stage name as Kordone, was considered unique, not only for his lyrical talents, but also for his unusually humble personality.

“Kordone was one of those who grew up and shone, brighter than, you know, some of those who were in the room with him,” said Brian Mitchell, who owns Fyngermade Studio.

Mitchell thinks of the brighter days while recording in the studio with 34-year-old Derouen, whom he considers a friend.

“He was just a subtle, quiet guy,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell said that even though Derouen was Beyoncé’s cousin, he never used his name to benefit her.

“It simply came to our notice then. We just have to introduce his biographies, because it’s simply, it’s worth putting them there, but he doesn’t like things like that, “said Mitchell.

On Tuesday, Derouen was found shot dead in his apartment in the Towers complex in La Cantera.

“I can’t believe it. I thought they had the wrong person, “Mitchell said.

They are now looking for Sasha Skare, who San Antonio police believe shot and shot Derouen. There is an active murder warrant for Skare.

On an Instagram page, which appears to be operated on by the 21-year-old, you can see how people tell her to surrender.

While investigators are convinced that Derouen was a victim of the homicide, the question many still ask is why?

“It’s like hurting a butterfly,” Mitchell said.

Derouen’s wife was too shaken to talk to KSAT12 on Thursday and asked for her privacy.

Through the text, she echoed Mitchell’s feelings by saying “it’s not worth it.”

Anyone with information about Skare’s whereabouts is asked to call the SAPD homicide unit at 210-207-7635.
