Samsung’s “ITest” lets you try out a Galaxy device on your iPhone

Samsung has launched “iTest,” an interactive website experience designed to allow iPhone users to test Android on a Galaxy device or “test the other side,” as Samsung puts it.

The iTest site is being promoted in New Zealand, according to a MacRumors reader who came across the feature. Visiting the iTest site on an “iPhone” requires users to install a web application on the home screen.

From there, tapping the app launches into a simulated Galaxy smartphone home screen, complete with a range of apps and setting options. You can open the Galaxy Store, apply themes, and even access phone messages and apps.

You will receive simulated phone calls to learn about Galaxy features, as well as a series of messages, plus a camera tutorial from installer and photographer Logan Dodds going through all the available photography options.

There are a number of tips that appear while browsing the interface to inform you about all the features that are inaccessible, plus you can browse through the Galaxy Wearable app with all Samsung accessories.

The Gallery app features photos, there are tutorials for the Samsung Kids and Samsung Health apps, and the settings app lets you learn about some of the customization features available.

Samsung’s interactive experience is neat and there are even a few jokes added. When you access the Settings app, for example, touching a setting says that the experience has been simplified “so that our developer could have a lunch break.”

Although Samsung seems to be promoting this experience in New Zealand today, anyone can try it. It’s a useful way to take a look at the features available on Galaxy devices if you don’t own one, and it’s certainly Samsung’s most ambitious effort to attract “iPhone” users.
