Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was one of the best phones of 2020 and was very close to being the Smartphone of the Year Android Police 2020 Readers’ Choice. While the US market has only received the 5G version of the phone, consumers in the UK, Germany and India, among others, have had the chance to pick up a 4G version powered by Exynos 990. In what seems to be a way of recognizing the disadvantages of the processor its internal (and / or state-of-the-art silicon cost reduction), the company is ready to unveil a 4G version of the Snapdragon 865+ powered phone.

Even though modems support a wide variety of network frequencies, smartphone companies need to certify their devices to work on them. There is money involved in the process and that is why it is common to see smartphone companies that certify only those relevant bands in a certain market. For example, the OnePlus 9 in India – where 5G networks do not yet exist – only supports two 5G bands, while the US version accepts much more. It is safe to assume that Samsung is resorting to a similar practice in this case.

It is unknown when the Galaxy S20 FE 4G will be officially announced, but it shouldn’t be too long now. It is expected to be available in four colors and have a sticker price of € 750.
