A lot smartphone brands have had recently has turned to manufacturers of old cameras to help improve the image quality of their phones. Vivo collaborated with Zeiss, OnePlus teamed up up with Hasselblad, and now, According to several reports, it looks like Samsung may be looking to team up with Olympus to update the cameras on future Galaxy phones.

A potential partnership between Samsung and Olympus was first detailed on Twitter by a noted leaker Yogesh, who argued that while the exact nature of the partnership was not yet completely clear, it could lead to new technology on the Galaxy Fold 3 (which is expected to be released sometime this fall) or the Galaxy S22 Ultra (which is not expected to reaches the beginning of next year).

The reports on the collaboration were subsequently apparently confirmed by IceUniverse, who claimed a source told him that the partnership between Samsung and Olympus was “reliable news”. It’s about Olympus he stretched out first to start the initial discussions.

Wuntil it remains to be seen what kind of effect Olympus will have on Samsung mobile cameras, the Dutch site GalaxyClub.nl reports that Samsung is also considering adding sensorsswitch technology to Galaxy S22, which coincidentally (or not) is the technology that Olympus has introduced on a number of mirrorless cameras.

Sensor-change is a common technique on state-of-the-art DSLRs mirrorless cameras that allow the camera to move its image sensor independently of the rest of the device, which can reduce vibration and movement to help capture more clearly, images without shaking. And in some cases, camera manufacturers, such as Olympus, have also used sensor switching technology to move the camera’s image sensor one pixel in multiple directions while capturing a series of photos, before combining these images together to create a composite image with a much larger image. resolution and clearer details than you would get from a single photo.

Ddedicated sensorexchange technology has not seen much action smartphone cameras. The most device manufacturers have embraced optical image stabilization (OIS) technology, which usually adjusts both the camera sensor and the lens together to reduce vibration, while being less expensive to implement. However, last fall, Apple added sensor change stabilizer to wide angle camera on iPhone 12 Pro Max, and rumors have that Apple intends to expand the use of sensors-transfer the technology to the entire iPhone 13 line later this year.

Adding the sensorThe change technology could be a big upgrade for Samsung Galaxy phones. The Galaxy S21 Ultra boasts an impressive 10x optical zoom that could be further enhanced with better stabilization. And, although these specifications are not confirmed, Let’s Go Digital teamed up with Technizo Concept to create renderings of what a Galaxy S22 Ultra with 200 MP sensor and new camera technology from Olympus might look like

Samsung has used essentially the same image sensors on the last two main ones Galaxy S phones (with improvements in image processing between generations), so the company could really benefit from some camera hardware improvements on future Galaxy phones. Turging Olympus could be an interesting way to do this.
