- Samsung has announced that a new Exynos processor is coming.
- This is expected to be the Exynos 2100 pilot chipset.
- The launch is set for January 12, 2021.
Samsung has already announced a new mid-range processor in Exynos 1080, which is a major upgrade over its previous mid-range silicone. This is not the only SoC the company is working on, as it has now been revealed that a new Exynos chipset will come next month.
The Korean manufacturer made the announcement on social networks, revealing the launch on January 12, 2021. The posts add that “a new Exynos is coming”. See a screenshot of the Twitter post below.
This new chipset is expected to be the Exynos 2100 pilot processor, designed to power the Galaxy S21 series in several markets. It is also interesting to note that the Galaxy S21 family is rumored to be launched on January 14, so it would make sense for the Exynos 2100 chip to be unveiled before the phones.
There is no official word yet on the specifications for the new chipset, but it is expected to offer the powerful Cortex-X1 processor, the new Arm Cortex-A78 cores, as well as the Arm Mali-G78 GPU. Journalist Roland Quandt reported that the new processor is an octa-core design and includes a 2.9 Ghz high-performance CPU core, three 2.8 Ghz cores and four 2.4 Ghz cores. We also expect the Exynos 2100 to have 8K recording and improved energy efficiency.
