Bukele announced Alas’ resignation. He declared via Twitter that he accepted his resignation on December 23, 2020, and his position will not be held by anyone else, because it will be deleted from the structure of the Presidency.

According to the president, Alas will return to work in the audiovisual field.

In social networks, users have constantly stressed that this position reflects “once again the bad decisions of the Bukele government” to assign responsibilities to people who are not suitable for the position. The radio host was also harshly criticized for the salary she earned.

Bukele also announced that Luis Rodríguez, a former commissioner for strategic projects for the presidency, has been appointed country director at the US Central Bank for Economic Integration. Therefore, he will no longer run as a representative of the New Ideas in the next elections and his candidacy will be replaced.
