Rumor: Nintendo Switch Pro “Will have exclusives,” says Insider

Switch the console

Bloomberg released earlier this week a story about Nintendo’s plans to launch a new Switch model that will come equipped with a Samsung OLED screen that will consume Less battery and provides greater contrast and possibly a faster response time. It is a 7-inch panel with 720p resolution and will be able to accept “4K high definition graphics” when paired with TVs.

ResetEra user and well-known industry insider NateDrake – who has been linked to various other Nintendo leaks in the past – has now expanded on this story, claiming that the new Switch unit will host some “Select exclusively”, in particular from third parties.

“There will be some selected exclusives, especially from third-party partners. There may not be a large number of them, but I know at least one.”

In a separate post, the same source said that Nintendo’s plan was to position the device as a review.

“Nintendo’s plans are to position it as a revision. A premium model, if you will.”

If this rumored system comes with a bit of extra mumbling, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see third-party companies, in particular, wanting to get over more technically demanding titles that the current Switch would probably have a hard time with. In fact, there are even a few games on current models that could be used with much needed performance boost.

As for Nintendo, if you reflect on the 3DS era, you’ll know that it has created a handful of exclusive titles for the New Nintendo 3DS. One of the first was Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, which undoubtedly provided some additional sales for the company. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if a revision of the switch would follow a similar pattern.

At this time, representatives of Nintendo and Samsung declined to comment on the latest rumors, and the president of Nintendo passed last month until he said that the Japanese company does not intend to announce a new version of the Switch soon.
