Rudy Giuliani tried to make cops for the “Borat” team after a humiliating scene, says the producer

Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, tried to put the New York police in the “Borat” team for “extortion” after he was filmed in an embarrassing scene that lowers his pants on a hotel bed in Manhattan, a film producer revealed on Saturday.

The scene showed Giuliani lying on his back and stretching towards his legs, while the actress “Borat Subsequent Moviefilm”, Maria Bakalova, in the role of a reporter, was sitting after an interview with him. Giuliani claims to be putting on his shirt.

When he realized he was being joked by the crew, Giuliani “claimed we were trying to extort him at the time. [but] I didn’t ask for anything, “said film producer Monica Levinson in a panel of Producers Guild of America, which was first reported by Deadline.

“He called all his New York police officers and said ‘extortion,’ which was a federal crime,” Levinson added. It was “smart to bring this up,”
she added, indicating that it could attract police attention, although it was a completely false statement.

After the dust of the hotel locked the “Borat” crew in the suite in which they had filmed Giuliani, Levinson said. But the crew has already transferred the footage from the room. “He’s always out first,” she explained. “There are always ways to make sure we get the data.”

Giuliani told the New York Post Page Six last summer that he called the New York police after Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen entered the hotel room in a pink belt.

“This guy comes running, dressed like a madwoman, which I would say is a pink transgender outfit,” Giuliani told Page Six in a transphobic screed. “It simply came to our notice then. He had a beard, bare feet and it wasn’t what I would call fun to be attractive. “

Nothing came of Giuliani’s complaints, but Levinson was worried at the time, after spending about 19 hours behind bars during the filming of the original “Borat” in 2006.

“We’ve got to deal with our lawyers,” Levinson said. “I called the production team and said, ‘Let’s take everyone to New Jersey tonight.’ It was 11 o’clock at night. I didn’t want to repeat what happened to me in the first movie that happened to the whole crew. ”

Levinson was interviewed along with several other Zoom nominees as part of the award for Thursday’s PGA virtual awards ceremony. Co-producers Levinson and Borat, Anthony Hines and Cohen, have been nominated for the Outstanding Film Producer Award.

Bakalova was nominated for an Oscar for her role in “Borat.” The film won Best Comedy, and Cohen won Best Actor in a Golden Globe Comedy.

Giuliani got a Razzie nomination for worst supporting actor. He could not be reached immediately for comment on Levinson’s comments.
