Those who managed to buy one of the new Nvidia RTX 3060 graphics cards yesterday now they have access to company long-expected Resizable BAR support, Which is PC user features can be enabled at the BIOS level to allow the CPU and GPU to speak directly to each other. This is a big problem because that’s instantaneous helps increase the rate of game frames.

Support for this feature was released yesterday with the latest Nvidia driver update, but it only affects RTX 3060 Momentary. Nvidia said Resizable BAR support for the rest of the 30 Series crew will follow at the end of March.

However, like Smart Access Memory (SAM) at AMD, which is just another way to say resizable BAR, compatibility is limited to certain processors and motherboards. Not everyone with a RTX 3060 va you can still activate the function.

At this time, Nvidia’s Resizable BAR is only compatible with AMD 500 series chipsets and AMD 400 series chipsets on motherboards with support for the AMD Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 series processor. In addition, you will need to have an AMD Ryzen 5000 series processor to use the Resizable BAR with an Nvidia graphics card. It is not currently compatible with older AMD processors.

On the Intel side, compatibility includes 400 series chipsets, as well as all 11th generation chipsets available starting February 25th.. However, because Nvidia worked closely with Intel to get it In operation, it seems that Resizable BAR will be ready to run whenever Intel launches 11th and next generation chipset desktop CPUs; Nvidia lists Core i9, i7 and i5 11th generation as compatible, as well as Core i9, i7, i5 and i3 10th generation processors.

The resizable BAR will also be compatible with motherboards from all major manufacturerss, including Asus, ASRock, Colorful, EVGA, Gigabyte and MSI. Nvidia did not say which ones they are specifically, but each manufacturer would have more information on their websites. Since 400 series chipsets are compatible, all 400 series motherboards should also be compatible (Z490, H470, B460 and H410), but each manufacturer may decide to enable it only on certain models. . It is always good to double check!

I wouldn’t hold your breath Resizable BAR to come to Intel 300 series chipsets soon. This chipset, which supports 8th and 9th generation processors, will reach the end of life by January 2022, so Intel probably won’t focus on compatibility for that generation.

RTX 30 series gaming laptops also support the resizable bar with Intel and AMD processors. Again, you will need to consult your laptop manufacturer to see if it is compatible with a particular model. MSI GP66 Leopard, for example, supports it.

But even if your PC ticks all those tapes, you won’t see an increase in the frame rate in every game, as is the case with AMD’s SAM. At the moment, there are only a handful of games that support the Resizable BAR with an Nvidia GPU, which include Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Border countries 3, Metro exodus, and several others.

As always, don’t forget to update your drivers, BIOS, and VBIOS so that this new feature actually works on your supported computer.
