Royal Caribbean makes “world’s largest cruise ship” available for booking

You could be among the first passengers aboard the largest cruise ship in the world.

On Tuesday, Royal Caribbean International announced that it has opened reservations for the first voyages aboard its new ship, Wonder of the Seas, which will depart from Shanghai and Hong Kong in 2022.

Wonder of the Seas is still under construction, but when completed, it will be “the largest cruise ship in the world,” Royal Caribbean said in its announcement.

The 236,857-ton ship – which has 18 decks and 2,867 cabins – will be able to hold 6,988 passengers, according to Royal Caribbean.

The Points Guy reported that Wonder of the Seas will be 4% larger than the largest cruise ship today, the Royal Caribbean’s Symphony of the Seas. Wonder of the Seas passenger capacity is also a record for cruise ships, according to the website.

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship will sail in March next year with voyages of 4 to 9 nights.

Trips departing from Shanghai – between March and November – will visit Japanese cities, including Osaka, Fukuoka and Kobe, as well as the islands of Okinawa.

Between November 2022 and January 2023, Wonder of the Seas will leave Hong Kong and visit Chan May, Vietnam; Busan and Jeju, South Korea; Kochi and Okinawa, Japan; and Taipei, China, Royal Caribbean said on Tuesday.
