Ronald Guzmán is the fifth MVP in the history of Gigantes del Cibao

Ronald Guzmán became the fifth player for Gigantes del Cibao to win the award for the most valuable player in the professional baseball league in the Dominican Republic.

Guzmán received 48% of the votes of accredited sports journalists to win the distinction for the best player in the regular season 2020-21.

Ronald got 63 votes from the communicators who covered the tournament, easily beating Yamaico Navarro, the first baseman for Toros del Este, who got 26. Giants designated hitter Juan Francisco got 23 votes and Vladimir Guerrero Jr al Escogido, obtained 8.

The first base for Gigantes del Cibao was, without a doubt, the best player of the season, after finishing his leading performance in marked runs (25), hits (40), total bases (58), OBP (.454 ), OPS (.977), appearances on set (130) and as a co-leader in the games played (30).

His batting average was second with .360, after hitting 40 hits in 111 official bats, with 12 RBIs, and was second in walks (17).

Fifth Giant to win the prize

Ronald, who played his first full season at LIDOM, became the fifth Cibao Gigantes player to win the award and the first since Juan Francisco did so for the 2012-11 season.
