US Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Robin Bernstein, on Tuesday stressed that relations between the two countries are “stronger than ever” and they hope it will remain so under Joe Biden’s rule.
“I think the relationships at the end of this administration are stronger than ever and I don’t want to forget that at the end of this administration we will have a live act on the embassy’s website that I hope you will all see Bernstein said.
Regarding her continuity in office, the ambassador explained that each administration is free to choose its staff, but that she remains “satisfied” with her work in the country over the years.
“In a democracy, everyone has the right to appoint all members of their cabinet and that decision is in their hands (Biden’s), but I am very grateful to have been here for the past two years,” Bernstein said through his interpreter.
The ambassador’s statements took place upon her arrival at the National Palace, prior to her award ceremony in the ambassador’s chamber led by President Luis Abinader.
