Robert de Niro and John Boyega hit the gas on Netflix with “Formula”

Robert de Niro and John Boyega will star in “Formula”, a Netflix movie in which a racing driver is forced to use his driving skills in the criminal world.

The digital platform detailed on Monday, in a statement that Gerard McMurray will direct and write this film in which De Niro will also appear as a producer.

McMurray will return to Netflix after filming for the streaming giant “Burning Sands” (2017).

“Formula” will focus on a Formula 1 star who, in order to save his family, is forced to become a driver for criminals who have to flee the authorities after his blows.

Winner of two Oscars for “The Godfather: Part II” (1974) and “Raging Bull” (1980), De Niro is considered one of the best performers in history and last year released the film “The War with Grandpa” ( 2020)).

De Niro will return with “Formula” to work for Netflix after his great collaboration in “The Irishman” (2019) with Martin Scorsese, Al Pacino and Joe Pesci.

In turn, Boyega became a young star of today’s cinema thanks to his Finnish character in the third trilogy of “Star Wars”: “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Awakening of the Force” (2015), “Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi “(2017) and” Star Wars: Episode IX – Rise of Skywalker “(2019).

The actor has participated in other films such as “Pacific Rim: Uprising” (2018), an apocalyptic blockbuster and science fiction in which he debuted as a producer.

He was recently seen in “Small Ax”, an acclaimed television proposal consisting of five films directed by Steve McQueen (“12 Years a Slave”, 2013).
