The government’s Joint Committee on Vaccines and Immunization said this week that people between the ages of 18 and 29, who are not at high risk for Covid, should have the option of using an alternative vaccine to the AstraZeneca vaccine. is available in their area. The scientific editor of the Observatory, Robin McKie, say Anushka asthana that the risk of blood clots is still incredibly low: current evidence puts the risk at about one in 250,000 photos. But given that there are other vaccines to offer, he says this caution makes sense.
More than 30 million people have received at least one dose of the vaccine in the UK, and a study by researchers at Imperial College suggests that the link between Covid-19 and death is broken. But other studies indicate a third, more severe wave of the virus if vaccination rates fall.
