COLUMBUS, Ohio – It seems that the Blue Jackets have finally managed to change the injured Riley Nash center.
Nash was traded to Toronto on Friday for a conditional selection in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft. If he plays 25% of the Maple Leafs’ postseason games, the Blue Jackets will receive a sixth-round pick.
It’s not exactly a blockbuster. But when Nash suffered a sprained left knee last week following a loss in Florida, the Blue Jackets and Nash thought they would exit the market before Monday’s trading deadline.
He was surprised when Blue Jarets GM Jarmo Kekalainen called him on Friday.
“Yes, it was, ‘Why are you calling me? “It wasn’t really resonant,” said Nash, who is expected to be eliminated in another three to five weeks. “I was surprised a little carelessly, just enjoying a casual Friday.
