Retroactive unemployment payment has arrived

The Secretary of the Department of Labor and Human Resources (DTRH), Carlos J. Rivera Santiago, announced today the million-dollar payment of $ 94,077,082 for the retroactive payment of the $ 300 that will receive unemployment insurance applicants and another $ 371,369,598 paid to claimants who receive pandemic unemployment assistance (PUA) after the extension of benefits under the federal statute “Law on Continuing Assistance for Unemployed Workers 2020”.

“Puerto Rican Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi and this server are working together in harmony to do justice to those who receive the unemployment check. That’s why I’m pleased to announce that all unemployment insurance claimants will receive this additional weekly $ 300 compensation. You do not have to perform any type of procedure to receive it, because it will be automatic “, Rivera Santiago explained.

Payments for this program known as the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC) began the week of January 2, 2021 and will end the week of March 13, 2021. Direct deposit claimants will see their compensation reflected next Saturday, while claimants from the verification method will be received in the following days.

“If the claimant receives unemployment benefits during this period, he will be able to receive an additional amount of USD 300 per week. You could also receive retroactive payments from FPUC, if you are eligible ‘, assured the DTRH holder.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Labor reported that the amount paid by the FPUC to applicants for pandemic unemployment assistance (PUA) amounts to $ 277,292,516.09. “PUA applicants, having a much more modern platform than unemployment, receive compensation since the second week of January, for this reason the amount paid is higher than that of unemployment claimants,” he concluded.
