Capcom will host Resident Evil Showcase later this week, and fans of the horror franchise have left and set their sights on the prospect of the three classic PlayStation 1 games being ported to modern consoles. All this comes from a countdown on the franchise’s Twitter account, who started scoring every day before the event, looking back at each major title. Well, all but Resident Evil 0. Thanks to some interesting differences between the original games and the videos Capcom posted on Twitter, some fans think we’re about to get ports of the original PS1 versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis.

Every post so far has focused on inventory screens, and eagle-eyed Twitter users are getting changes between the games released in the 1990s and what Capcom posts on its social media channel. For example, the video in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis below shows a much longer inventory section, as well as the 25-year-old badge in the lower right corner.

Due to the way Capcom started counting until the next Resident Evil Showcase, fans thought that the developer could announce ports for the three classic games. However, yesterday they faced a bit of a hurdle as the countdown continued with Resident Evil 4. The general line of thinking now is simply that Capcom is counting back to the digital event, looking back at each release main. After all, it would align correctly with a revelation of Resident Evil Village. As cool as such a release on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 would be, we very much doubt that this will materialize.
