Republican Representative Says $ 1,400 Incentive Should Go To Those Getting Vaccinated

Ohio Republican Representative Steve Stivers, who has publicly declined to approve an additional check for $ 1,400 to complete the $ 2,000 President Joe Biden has said he wants to bring to the citizens, made a proposal to the new federal government.

As he said in an interview with Yahoo! Finance, Stivers would be willing “to sign a check for $ 1,400 for people getting vaccinated.”

The member of the federal House of Representatives added that he “is not in favor of giving a check for $ 1,400 for nothing,” but that he would only do so under that condition.

“So we were going to buy something with the $ 1,400 and it’s herd immunity,” he added.

The representative asked Biden’s administration to consider this possibility of “obtaining herd immunity as soon as possible.”

Meanwhile, the Department of the Treasury in Puerto Rico is depositing the $ 600 check to the 2.8 million beneficiaries. According to the agency’s secretary, Francisco Parés, the down payment will be made daily to 200,000 people and payments are expected to be finalized in the coming weeks.
