Based on your healing comment, do I think you missed the world? I was so used to the old school mechanics, my knee reaction was to reject a lot of newer QoL improvements (like healing). But when I finished World, I realized I was fine. There are no safe areas on an open area map and more aggressive and fluid monster attacks together balance the movement as it heals.
But in Rise they kind of changed him from the World. It is more of a hybrid between the World and the old school. You will immediately receive a partial healing and then it slowly fills up over time, as long as you do not cancel or are hit. In the world you did not receive healing immediately and in the old games you got everything at once. This new system ensures that even if you dodge the roll or hit yourself during the animation, you will still be punished, but not a punishment with 100% total force. More than 75%. I think it’s a fair compromise. That piece right away might be enough to keep you alive if you’re on a piece of health while you’re poisoned.
If you come from old school games, this has to be a lot of changes to keep in mind. I remember I had to adjust to the world after all the changes, but now I feel normal.
