The secretary general of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Reinaldo Pared Pérez, is still on the list of 32 members of the political committee who aspire to be ratified during next Sunday’s elections.
The inclusion of Pared Pérez in the list is surprising because in January last year, the former senator asked to be excluded from the political committee and said he would only aspire to remain on the central committee, as his political participation would be much reduced. to his illness.
Pared Pérez has been undergoing treatment since the beginning of March 2020. His diagnosis was confirmed and since then he has undergone an intense process of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and, finally, a surgery that was performed on July 1 at the Prebisterian Hospital. from New York.
The former president of the Senate, along with Felucho Jiménez and former ambassador José Tomás Pérez, were the only ones to announce that they would not aspire to be ratified in the political committee.
The PLD will elect the 43 members of the political committee this Sunday, plus the president and party secretary. A total of 115 people aspire to belong to that body.
