Registration for the COVID-19 vaccine on the Alamodome website is complete in just a few minutes

SAN ANTONIO – Registration to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Alamodome table, the free COVID-19 vaccination site is currently complete, according to the city’s website.

Registration opened for residents of Bexar County and others in one of the other 26 municipal districts at 9 a.m. Saturday. However, if you log in and try to register for the vaccine, you will be informed that all seats have already been filled.

The 9,000 slots available for next week were taken within six minutes of the registration opening, according to city officials. More than 11,000 people were on the city’s registration site when it opened at 9 a.m.

The site was also difficult to access, probably due to the number of residents who tried to register at the same time.

However, the city’s deputy director, Dr. Colleen Bridger, said in a statement that the system did not actually collapse when residents tried to register.

Although the spots are full right now, he said they are receiving more doses.

“The appointments have been completed, the system has not collapsed. As the state of Texas sends us more vaccines, we will open more meetings. There will be enough for everyone, it only takes time for the producers to make / distribute the vaccine “, said Dr. Bridger.

Only 1,500 eligible residents a day can receive the COVID-19 vaccine, and the vaccination clinic officially opens on Monday. However, city officials have reassured those unable to register that more doses of the vaccine will be available in the coming weeks.

Those eligible for vaccines include health workers and residents of long-term care facilities, known as Phase 1A and Phase 1B, which includes residents over the age of 65 or residents over the age of 16. and over, with a chronic condition.

These chronic medical conditions include: cancer, chronic kidney disease, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart disease, solid organ transplantation, obesity and severe obesity, pregnancy, sickle cell disease and type 2 diabetes.

We have contacted city officials for more information on vaccine registration and we will bring more updates as they become available.
