“Ref saved” Ben Askren from a worse shot

ATLANTA – Jake Paul says Ben Askren was lucky that his Triller Fight Club dashboard was stopped when it was.

After Askren was dropped at the start of the first round of his boxing match with Paul on Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Arena, he got up and tried to fight. However, he was upset and the referee decided he had seen enough and waved at 1:59 in Round 1.

Askren looked upset that he hadn’t had a chance to continue, but Paul said things would have gotten worse if he had.

“Of course he will protest, just like any losing fighter,” Paul told MMA Junkie after the fight. “Good luck to Ben Askren, because I had another big mom * shouting his right hand coming after him, and he would have been much more unconscious than that. The referee saved him.

“She is OK. It would have been an even bigger meme. It would have been more viral if she had let him return to battle. I had a big, big blow to him. ”

Paul 24, said that he knows that people will not give him the debt after they defeated Askren, who is the former Bellator and ONE Championship title, who retired at the age of 36 to compete in the boxing ring. In the end, though, he doesn’t care.

Paul’s passion for fighting is real, he said, and he promises to take it seriously. He does not want to know what he feels is on the other side of the coin that Askren has experienced and said that is why he will continue to work for every fight – whether his opponent is considered legitimate or not.

“If I lost, I would be the laughing stock of the world for years to come,” Paul said. “But that made it so hard for me to train in practice every day. Everyone wants to see Jake Paul fail. Why? Because I’m the bastard. They think I did that, I think I did that. They think I’m an idiot. So no one knows what it’s like to be me. ”
