We will continue to find out more about what Apple has in store for the MacBook Pro 2021 update. As we detailed earlier, a group of hackers called REvil is currently blackmailing Apple provider Quanta. The group has released detailed documents showing the MacBook Pro 2021 logic board, including details and images of the new ports.
MacBook images are mock-ups created by Parker Ortolani from 9to5Mac based on documents.
Reports from both Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Kuo had previously indicated that the new MacBook Pro models would add additional ports. These documents make multiple references to the code names “J314” and “J316”, which Bloomberg previously reported that it represents the new MacBook Pro models of 14 and 16 inches with Apple Silicon inside.
On the right, the documents show an HDMI port, a USB-C port and an SD card slot. On the left, the documents indicate that there will be a MagSafe connector, two USB-C ports and a headphone jack. In particular, this means that there will be one less USB-C port on the MacBook Pro 2021 than on the current model.
The documents also show that the MacBook Pro 2021 without a touch bar, which was previously reported by sources such as Ming-Chi Kuo. There is another Touch ID button on the right side of the functional row, similar to the current MacBook Air.
It is also important to remember the source of this leak. This is a sensitive topic as well 9to5Mac publish only details of what is readily available. The documents do not contain any product images, so there is nothing to be learned about the form factor changes that could be reserved for the MacBook Pro 2021. The documents are meant to show technical details about the Mac, rather than design details.
So far, only a handful of files have been released, but REvil threatens to release more in the coming days. The documents include detailed diagrams of the iMac 2021 that Apple announced yesterday, as well as the MacBook Air 2020.
