Recall that Pepperoni Hot Pockets may contain pieces of glass and plastic, says the USDA

Nestlé Prepared Foods remembers more than 762,000 kilograms of hot pepperoni pockets, said the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.

Frozen filled sandwiches – shipped to national retail stores – are recalled because “they can be contaminated with foreign materials, especially pieces of glass and hard plastic,” the USDA said Friday.

The problem was discovered when the company received four consumer complaints about foreign material in pepperoni Hot Pockets, the department said. The company received a report of a “minor oral injury” associated with the product’s consumption, the USDA said.

The reminder is for the 54-ounce packages that contain 12 “Nestlé Hot Pockets Sandwiches: Premium Pepperoni Prepared with Pork Pizza, Chicken and Beef with Garlic.” The affected boxes have the date “Best before February 2022” and batch codes 0318544624, 0319544614, 0320544614 and 0321544614, the department said.

The boxes also have the unit number “EST. 7721A ”within the USDA inspection mark.

“Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume it,” the USDA said. “This product must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.”
