RB Mike Boone signs a 2-year contract

According to the Denver Broncos, they have agreed to sign a two-year contract with defender Mike Boone Mike Klis of KUSA-TV. Boone is a 25-year-old who spent the first three years of his career with the Minnesota Vikings under the current Broncos general manager George Paton.

The full terms of the contract are not yet known, but Klis reported that the deal includes $ 2.6 million in guaranteed money.

This could partly explain why Denver offered Phillip Lindsay an original offer that would allow him to negotiate with other teams. Paton seems willing to replace Lindsay with Boone.

If Lindsay signs an offer sheet with another team the Broncos don’t want to match, Lindsay’s new team won’t have to trade any compensation to Denver in exchange for the backback.

Boone (5-10, £ 206) could have been signed to be Melvin Gordon’s new addition. Boone joined the NFL as a free agent in Cincinnati with the Vikings in 2018.

For the past three years in Minnesota, Boone has served as a key special teams player and rotation runner. He rushed 71 times for 379 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Boone also caught seven passes for 28 yards in 40 career games with the Vikings.
