LAS VEGAS – Josh Jacobs, the Las Vegas Raiders striker, was arrested for driving under the influence early Monday, hours after returning from losing to the Denver Broncos in their last game of the regular season.
Jacobs, 22, was arrested after Las Vegas Metropolitan Police responded to a call for a car accident near McCarran Connector Airport and East Sunset Road at about 4:42 a.m. Jacobs was taken to hospital for minor injuries and later if treated, he was taken to the Clark County Detention Center, where he was reserved for driving under the influence, according to the Las Vegas public intelligence officer.
Jacobs’ lawyers indicated that the broker would plead not guilty if the case reached that stage.
“No complaint has been filed against our client and there are no results of blood tests to support the suggestion of disability,” said David Z. Chesnoff and Richard A. Schoenfeld, attorneys for Jacobs, in a statement. “It is our intention to file a plea of innocence on behalf of Mr. Jacobs if he is charged.”
Raiders admitted to finding out about the incident in a statement.
“The organization takes these situations very seriously,” the team said.
“We are aware of the situation. I will just say that Josh is fine and I am not free to comment on this until I have more information, “said coach Jon Gruden.
According to Fox 5 Las Vegas, Jacobs has been released and is scheduled to appear on March 8.
