Random: Nintendo had to “politely refuse” the chance to work with Kanye West, says Reggie

Collaborations with musicians are not uncommon in the video game industry (we still tremble when we are also reminded Kris Kross: Make My Video and Aerosmith-heavy Revolution X) and it looks like we almost had a similar team between Nintendo and Yeezy’s own good.

Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime explained that during an E3 show a few years ago, Kanye West visited the Nintendo booth and spent some time talking to Shigeru Miyamoto alone. After this meeting of minds, West later invited Reggie to a meeting at his fashion business office, with his wife Kim Kardashian also present – placing the former Nintendo president in a fairly tight spot:

Part of that was talking about what he was doing. He experienced some of the content of the video game; he wanted reactions to that. He comes out and says, “I want to work with Nintendo.” At Nintendo I had so many different projects, the opportunity to do something with Kanye just wasn’t there, so I had to find a way to politely turn down this opportunity to work with him. I said, “Kanye, you don’t want to work with us because we’re tough, we’re tough. All we do is promote the best content. We wouldn’t be the kind of partner you’d like to work with. ‘And he looks at me and says,’ Reggie, you’re exactly the kind of partner I want for this reason! ‘ It’s like, “Lord.”

Kanye has such a passion for video game space and is a creator.
