The trailer begins with Latifah, who plays Robyn McCall, taking a walk with her daughter Delilah, played by Laya DeLeon.

Asked by her child why she abruptly quit her job a month earlier, a quick set of photos depicting Latifah training in a gym and on a street is presented, and the 50-year-old actress replies, “It’s complicated”.

Another montage of photos can be seen, many of which are played by the Grammy-winning singer who holds a weapon during an operation with other people and, finally, finds a series of young women hiding in a closet.

She is then seen talking to former CIA director William Bishop, played by Chris Noth, who informs her that the agency is continuing its surveillance activities, to which she replies that she is no longer under their jurisdiction.

Latifah is then confronted by a friend of hers who wonders if he is: “a kind of former police officer”, to which he replies that he has become: “the one you call when you can’t call 911”.

Then a short physical exchange is seen where he pushes a murderer on a wall, to his surprise, and then the filming ends.

Then a graph of fluorescent lights is presented, along with the launch date of the series on February 7, immediately after the Super Bowl.

The post-Super Bowl time slot is one of the most coveted spots in television programming and many major networks use the time to either air a special episode of an existing series or to award a completely new one.

Among the shows that debuted after the annual sporting event are The A-Team, Family Guy and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The Equalizer had previously been turned into a 2014 film starring Denzel Washington and Chloe Grace Moretz; the project received mixed reviews, but was successful at the box office.

The film, directed by Washington, gave rise to a sequel in 2018, which also had a good financial performance.
