Queen Elizabeth II was photographed with a tear at the funeral of her late husband, Prince Philip.
Philip died at the age of 99 on April 9, causing the royal family to gather for a ceremony to celebrate life in honor of the late Duke of Edinburgh. All eyes were on the queen during the ceremony, as she sat alone in a row, out of an abundance of caution due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Although Regina is known for not showing too much emotion in public, a chance photo taken by Royal Central she caught the queen behind her black Bentley as she left work, calmly wiping away a tear after saying goodbye to her 73-year-old husband.

It’s rare for audiences to see the Queen display emotion, something that royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith told USA Today was designed for.
“She is a woman with deep feelings, but she works hard to present an impassive face,” she said. “It’s partly due to her role, in part, to her temperament and the way she was raised.”

Philip married Princess Elizabeth in 1947 and is the longest-lived royal consort in British history.

The celebration of Philip’s life, which played a major role in his planning before his death, was attended by his four children and the queen – Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward – as well as Charles’ wife. Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall; Anna’s husband Timothy Laurence and wife of Edward Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
Philip’s grandchildren – including Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice, Princess Eugenie, Lady Louise and James, Viscount Severn – were also present.

Meanwhile, the king’s wife, Kate Middleton, Zara Tindall’s husband, Mike Tindall, Princess Eugenie’s husband, Jack Brooksbank, and Princess Beatrice’s husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, also joined their royal spouses at the family event.

The United Kingdom observed a minute’s silence nationwide just before the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral service began.
