Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip were not members of the royal family who expressed concern about how dark Archie’s skin might be, according to a royal expert.
Meghan Markle revealed in an interview with Oprah that while she was still pregnant with Archie, her son was told that she would not have a royal title and that they would not be entitled to security.
There were “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he was born,” she said.
The Duchess of Sussex has not revealed who raised these concerns – but a royal observer told The Sun that the queen and her husband are not part of it.
“I should be clear here, I’ve been told she’s not the Queen and she’s not the Duke of Edinburgh,” said Chris Ship, the royal editor of ITV News.
“So that leaves only two family members,” he added. “The two people you stay with are either his father, Prince Charles, or his brother, Prince William or their wives.”
However, the royal expert said that the queen did not come out unscathed from the bomb interview.
“It’s pretty serious,” he continued. “They have been protecting the queen all this time. But she also criticizes the institution she runs and therefore criticizes his grandmother, Regina. ”
Asked about the conversation later in the interview, Harry declined to elaborate much further.
“I will never share that conversation, but when it was awkward, I was a little shocked,” he said.
But he said the discussion about “what will the children look like?” it came “right at the beginning.”
“It was right at the beginning, when she wasn’t going to get security, when my family members suggested she keep playing, because there wasn’t enough money to pay for all these things,” he said. said.
“As if before we got married, there were some real obvious signs that this was going to be really hard.”
Archie, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, was born in May 2019.
The couple is expecting a second child and revealed that it will be a girl on Sunday night.
