Queen Elizabeth II, “deepfake”, gave an alternative Christmas speech and even danced a Tik Tok routine as part of a campaign to warn viewers of misinformation.
The digitally modified version of the British monarch was broadcast on Channel 4 after the annual Christmas message of the true queen was broadcast on BBC and ITV on Friday afternoon.
“If my message has a theme today, it is trustworthy. Trust what is authentic and what is not “, says the fake queen.
The station told CNN that the fake video was meant to be “a strong warning about advanced technology that allows the proliferation of misinformation and fake news in a digital age.”
In the modified address, a vocal actor posing as Queen Elizabeth II mentions the departure of Prince Harry and Meghan from the monarchy and the removal of Prince Andrew from royal duties in connection with his relationship with the convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The fake queen is quite cut, dancing around a palace room and joking about Harry and Meghan: “There are few things more painful than someone telling you that he prefers the company of Canadians.”
Buckingham Palace did not comment on the artificial queen.
