‘QAnon Shaman’ unrecognizable in mugshot from Virginia prison

The accused Capitol rioters dubbed the QAnon Shaman have a new look – hornless – in this newly released mugshot.

The infamous shaman, whose real name is Jacob Chansley, is virtually unrecognizable without the furry headdress, horns, and face paint in the prison photo released by officials in Alexandria, Virginia.

Mugshots of federal prisoners are hard to come by, according to Law and Crime, which published the photo.

In 2016, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that suspects can claim privacy interests when booking photos. The majority of the judges in that case ruled that mugshots “convey guilt” and “haunt the person depicted for decades,” the outlet reported.

However, as in Chansley’s case, federal inmates are sometimes housed by state or local law enforcement agencies, who can release the footage under underlying state law.

On Thursday, Chansley was moved to a Virginia prison after a federal judge ordered authorities to give him organic food while he is in custody.

He was transferred to Alexandria Detention Center after his attorney alleged that his client had not eaten for nine days because organic food was not served in the DC prison.

A judge ordered correction officials to administer the special diet, which attorney Albert Watkins says is part of his “shamanic belief system and way of life.”

Chansley has lost 20 pounds since being transferred from Arizona to Washington last week, Watkins told the judge.

On Thursday, US District Judge Royce Lamberth said the US Marshals Service had told the court that the District of Columbia Department of Corrections had asked to relocate Chansley because they were unable to comply with the court’s order to give him organic food.

Chansley was charged with civil disorder, obstruction, disorderly conduct and other charges for his role in the January 6 riots at the Capitol.

He was among a group of hundreds of pro-Trump supporters who sued past police and stormed the building while Congress gathered to vote to confirm Joe Biden’s election victory.
