Puerto Rican Angel Nigaglioni appointed to a high position in the federal treasury

Washington DC Puerto Rican Ángel Nigaglioni has been appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Mission and Administration of the Treasury Department under Secretary Janet Yellen, who will be confirmed in office today by the United States Senate.

Nigaglioni was the legislative director and legal counsel to former Congressman José Serrano and was also a member of the House of Representatives’ allocation committee.

Until December last year, Serrano was chairman of the subcommittee on credits for trade, justice and science.

In the treasury he is assigned to the Office of Legislative Affairs.

Nigaglioni completed his law degree from Indiana University and his BA from George Washington University.

The Senate will confirm Yellen this afternoon as the next finance minister.

Yellen, 74, would be the first woman to head the federal treasury. The candidate secretary was president of the Federal Reserve from 2014 to 2018.
