Public works will build a new bridge over the Ozama River and expand the green boulevard

The widening and widening of roads, as well as the construction of a new bridge connecting Santo Domingo Este to the national district, are some of the infrastructures that the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) intends to develop in the coming years.

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, announced on Wednesday the construction of various projects aimed at improving vehicle traffic in the Greater Santo Domingo.

One of the infrastructures will be a new bridge that will connect the municipality of Santo Domingo Este with the national district, which will be built on the Ozama River, connecting Manuela Diez and Puerto Rico streets, the latter in the Ensanche Ozama in Santo Domingo Este.

Similarly, Ascención intends to expand the green boulevard until it connects with the Caucedo multimodal port; as well as the construction of the Los Alcarrizos ring road.

The plan also includes connecting Charles De Gaulle Boulevard, at Cruce de Sabana Perdida, to the La Victoria neighborhood.

In addition, he said he intends to expand Jacobo Majluta Boulevard to connect with the Duarte Highway, as well as bring solutions to Republic of Columbia Boulevard.

According to Ascención, the ministry he leads will continue the works to correct the traffic problems in the section of Avenida 27 de Febrero, between Plaza de la Bandera and Avenida Isabel Aguiar.

During a discussion at the facilities of the College of Engineers, Architects and Surveyors (Codia), the head of public works also referred to some works for accessibility in the province of Santiago.

Among the projects for Ciudad Corazón, he mentioned the extension of the northern belt, the completion of the tourist highway, the modernization of the Duarte highway, the construction of the Navarrete belt and the Amber highway.

The construction and reconstruction of local roads, the improvement of local facilities, the painting and conditioning of institutional areas are also part of the initiatives for Santiago.

This information was presented by the Minister during the discussion on the Strategic Plan for Development Works and Infrastructure Investments of the MOPC, held in Codia on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of this entity.

Ascención said the first interventions in the MOPC during his term of office were related to investments in infrastructure projects that had begun in the last administration, immediately reactivating those that were in an advanced state of compliance, previously audited, “provided had complied with all legal regulations ”.
